ABOUT LIZ

Growing up in the Midwestern US I was a keen observer of wildlife from a young age. Later in life, capturing travel memories with an old film camera, then documenting the animals and birds I observed using first a digital, then mirrorless, camera led me to full-time immersion in wildlife, landscape, and more recently, night photography.

With experience as a field biologist, educator, and traveler, wildlife and nature photography is an outgrowth of my desire to share the world I see. Whether photographing an intimate moment in the life story of an animal, an arresting landscape, or an awe-inspiring night sky, my goal is to illustrate through visual art that through quiet attention to the world around us, we will be rewarded with a deeper connection to that world.

The power of wildlife and nature photography is its ability to draw us in, to show us a different perspective, to engage us in the natural world. A photograph can create an emotional connection, and that connection enhances awareness, a first step in creating conservation initiatives and protecting what we have left.
